Holly & Scott

Wedding Celebrations

Scott grew up in Bolton & Holly grew up in Manchester. We met briefly when we were introduced by a mutual friend in 2012. We both worked for the RBS Bank at the time; Scott still works for them now but Holly went on to pursue her teaching career. We went on a few dates, the first being to Chester Zoo in August 2013, but officially got together in October 2013 whilst on a night away in Chester and have been together since.

The Proposal

In August 2018, we went on a Summer Holiday to La Palma with Holly’s mum & dad and little did Holly know, Scott was going to ‘pop the question’. On 14th August 2018, we got ready to go out for the evening and to Holly’s surprise, at the start of the evening, Scott was down on one knee asking her to marry him, Holly was in tears of shock & happiness and was not expecting it at all; Holly’s mum & dad were there to witness it as Scott had gone to speak to Holly’s dad prior to the holiday to ask for his blessing. It was a fairy-tale. The rest of the evening was spent capturing the moment with the gorgeous sunset and a lovely meal and lots of wedding talk.

The Big Day

Our ceremony was perfect, it was held at Osprey Hotel; we used spirtual ceremonies and had Vincent Whelan as our celebrant, who was brilliant. Our photographer was fantastic, he arrived at around 11:30 and captured every moment of the day, from getting hair and make up done, to walking down the aisle, during the ceremony, leaving the ceremony – brilliant. Our photos were mainly taken inside the Osprey Hotel due to the weather on the day (there was storms and very high winds!!) but, we did manage to get a handful of photos in the courtyard at the Osprey which are lovely with the waterfall in the background.

The dinner was delicious, we had chicken & chorizo vol au vont to start, featherblade of Irish beef OR turkey & ham for main & lemon&basil cheesecake for dessert.

Our first dance has definitely got to be our most memorable moment, it was brilliant and Scott surprised Holly with his crazy dance moves. We danced to Train Drops of Jupiter and The Electrix made it even better with their version of the song.

Why Did You Choose The Osprey Hotel?

We are from the UK but Holly has family living in Ireland. Holly’s Grandma & Grandad live in Newbridge, so not far from Naas at all. Due to coming over quite regular for family visits, Holly had stayed Osprey hotel previously and it had always been a dream to get married in Ireland.

In October 2018 we came over to view some venues in the Kildare area, for our wedding and we stayed the Osprey for a couple of days then. Scott hadn’t been before and as soon as he arrived and walked in, he got a feeling straight away and Holly had always liked it previously.

After visiting a couple of venues and before having a tour and a chat with Osprey about their wedding packages, we already knew we wanted to get married there. It has such a warm, welcoming feeling as soon as you enter the doors and the decor is stunning. The staff cannot do enough for you and that was shown 10x more on the day. I wish I could do it all over again in the new, gorgeous ballroom!

Post Wedding Celebrations

The day after the wedding was lovely, lots of our guests stayed at the hotel so we were able to see them at breakfast and talk about memories made from the day. The afternoon was so relaxing, we were able to spend it in the Osprey Spa and soak up all the excitement of becoming Husband & Wife.
Most guests did travel back home on the Monday but our families stayed the night and had a little post wedding dinner and a couple of drinks.
