Kayleigh & Joe

A little bit about you both

We met back in a local pub in 2016. After a few dates later, we haven’t looked back since as we had to postpone our originally date in June 2020. 9 months later Our little boy Charlie came along and we got to share our special day with him on 18th February 2022.

Tell us a bit about the proposal

Our proposal  happened on our second wedding anniversary. Joe had planned a nice day out and called it a ‘surprise day’, so I assumed it would be a shopping trip. We drove up the M50 and I still did not know where we were going. We went to the Botanical Gardens for a stroll. Only 5 minutes into the walk I turned around and he started reciting a poem he had written for me. Just to add to that surprise, he then got down on one knee and purposed. I was in shock and absolutely over the moon. We finished our walk abruptly and headed into the city centre to pick my ring!

The Big Day

Our big day was an amazing day from start to finish. We had the ceremony in a small country church in Portlaoise. Then headed to the Japanese Gardens on our way to the hotel for photos. Granted, there was a storm that day we were very lucky to get photos in between rain, hail and sleet – the sun finally made an appearance when we arrived to our dream venue,  the Osprey. Greeted by wedding planner, Catherine and everything was so well organised and anything we asked for on the day was there. The food and atmosphere in the hotel was amazing. everyone has an absolute ball. The staff were all so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us!

Post Wedding Celebrations

The next morning we got to have breakfast and chat with our friends and family. We then went back to Portlaoise and had a few drinks in our Local pub.

The Big Day

We choose the Osprey Hotel as we had previously been to a wedding back in 2017. We loved everything about the Venue. While we had to postpone our day back in June 2020. We were so amazed by the new ballroom and fell in love with the hotel all over again. After three failed attempts due to COVID and the hotel were absolutely amazing at rearranging our big day. Nothing was too much trouble. Catherine and her team went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day.
