Top Things to Consider When Choosing a Wedding Venue

Congratulations on your engagement! Now the fun part starts, planning the best day of your life. One of the first things to consider, before you sample any cakes or choose your colour scheme, you need to choose your wedding venue. But where to begin? We’ve put together our top tips for choosing a wedding location and how Osprey Hotel just might be the venue of your dreams! If you’d like to see our wedding venue in Kildare and our beautiful new ballroom for yourself, call our wedding coordinator today to arrange a viewing.

Location

Deciding where to get married should be one of the first things you discuss with your partner when planning your big day. Do you want to get married close to where you grew up, where they grew up, where you live now, or somewhere completely different? Once that’s decided and you have settled on a location, the next thing is choosing your venue.
Consider how far the venue is from your home and where your guests are travelling from. Is there accommodation for those travelling from further away? Making attending your wedding as easy as possible for your guests is the key to a harmonious planning process. How far is your chosen venue from the location of your ceremony? If you’re planning a civil ceremony, is your chosen venue equipped and registered to hold both?

Budget

Setting a budget is an important part of the planning process. It can determine not only the capacity of your wedding but the location, the size of the celebration and so much more. Set a budget for each aspect of the wedding – from the dress to the decorations – and try to stick to it, giving yourself a 10% emergency fund.
Find a venue that works for you with flexible wedding packages that suit your budget. Our wedding venue in Naas offers couples a range of wedding packages Our ‘Starling Package’ is our lowest priced package but there is nothing basic about it! Our ‘We’re All In’ includes everything you could hope for from an all-inclusive wedding minus the couple.

Wedding Coordinator

Your wedding coordinator is your main point of contact with your venue. When choosing a venue, you’ll likely meet the wedding planner at your first visit as they will show you around pointing out the features of the venue and packages. Make sure you have a good connection with the wedding coordinator and that you get on well. They should be someone who listens and understands your vision for your special day.
We are extremely lucky to have the best wedding coordinator here in Osprey Hotel, Catherine Bunn. With a passion and drive for what she does, Catherine has a wealth of knowledge of everything events and weddings, making sure you and your loved ones have a day to remember.

Wedding Theme

Decide if you want a themed wedding with your future spouse. You may have been planning a fairy-tale wedding all your life, but they’d prefer something more low-key. Maybe your partner dreams of a Star Wars theme and you hate space movies. We’d hope this came up in conversation before the proposal!
If you have a specific theme in mind for your big day, you need to be sure your venue is flexible enough to accommodate you. From colour details to character-themed weddings, our Kildare wedding venue can be customised to suit you. Our new ballroom, although decorated in an elegant, vintage style, can be altered to suit your décor, the size of your wedding and almost anything else you’d like for your big day.

Osprey Hotel is one of the premier wedding venues in Ireland and our new ballroom can now seat up to 350 guests. Our menus are thoughtfully curated with something for everyone. We include a red-carpet entrance, centrepieces and a personalised wedding menu and table plan for each wedding booked.

Our talented and experienced wedding planner, Catherine, is on hand to help with any enquiries you may have. Please drop her a line or chat by phone to arrange a visit to our Naas wedding venue and fall in love with our beautiful new ballroom Contact: [email protected]
