Themed Weddings
It’s not easy breaking the mould and planning a unique themed wedding but doing so creates a memorable day that your guests will talk about for years to come. Wedding themes vary hugely depending on the personal taste of the couple, ranging from Christmas or festive themes to something more unusual like Game of Thrones or Disney Princesses. Many couples have an idea what they want for their themed wedding and have spent months searching Pinterest for centrepieces, flowers, outfits – all of the little touches that make a wedding stand out.

Vintage Décor
When you picture a vintage wedding, what do you imagine? We think of romance, class and a vague sense of nostalgia. That’s exactly what we were hoping for when Home of the Year’, Architect Hugh Wallace designed our brand new wedding venue in Kildare.
The elegant and contemporary space spans 6,000 sq ft with impossibly high ceilings accented by 1920s style wall mounted lighting fixtures, brass, mirrors and glass. We’ve chosen a mostly neutral palette of white, slate grey and sand while light shell pink and vibrant raspberry tones give little pops of colour. The wedding venue has large round tables covered with crisp white tablecloths, pretty, antique-style chairs, and mirrored & floral centrepieces.
Vintage Wear
The best thing about a themed wedding is that it allows you to break tradition. Brides are no longer tied to traditional, simple white dresses. Many brides opt to wear two-pieces, colourful dresses or trouser suits, depending on their style. You could buy a vintage-style dress off the rack but why not take it one step further and marry in a family heirloom or a true antique beaded dress for an extra touch of authenticity. Accessorise carefully with brooches, incorporate lace to your dress or bouquet and have an embroidered handkerchief to hand for those emotional moments.
Grooms also have the option to dress vintage, choosing a traditional morning suit or tux, accessorised with a pocket handkerchief and cuff links. For a modern twist, add some contrasting shoes, braces or suspenders and opt for olde world fabrics like tweed, houndstooth and plaid. Waistcoats are the perfect vintage accessory and are ideal to still feel ‘dressed’ when the jacket comes off at the end of the night!
Mix Old & New
Vintage weddings don’t need to be stuffy. You can combine modern accessories to an antique dress or add modern music to a traditional ceremony for a contemporary touch. You can strike a balance between old fashioned style & comfort with modern facilities & luxury if you choose the right venue. Osprey Hotel’s new ballroom offers a combination of modern and vintage styles. The décor and accessories feel traditional but the surroundings, hotel bedrooms, outdoor space and the excellent service we provide are very much modern.
