Brian & Lorraine
A little bit about you both
Myself and Lorraine grew up not far from each other and there were many occasions over the years that we might have bumped into each other but we never did. However, timing is everything and when we finally did meet, it all clicked and fell into place.
Tell us a bit about the proposal
The proposal didn’t come about as a great surprise as Lorraine had been asking me when I was going to pop the question! It happened on our last trip abroad pre-pandemic, which seems like a lifetime ago as so much has happened since. The funny thing was that Lorraine could not get in touch with her family to share the great news as they were all at the local pub playing bingo! When we did eventually get through, there was a big commotion with the screams of delight from just outside the bingo hall!

Why did you choose Osprey?
When looking for somewhere to celebrate the big day, we wanted somewhere outside of Dublin but that was easily accessible for all of our friends and families. This led us to the Osprey as an option. It was the first venue we looked at and we instantly got a great feeling about the place and its staff. The package on offer was superb and I can’t state how great the ballroom looked on the big day. The setup of the ballroom, from the welcoming area (separated by dividers from the main ballroom), to the room layout, to the decor and the attached landscape garden combined with the efficient and friendly staff could not be faulted. We sound like we’re repeating ourselves, but, the best part was that the staff were so accommodating both in the lead up to the wedding and on the day itself. Organising the big day can be stressful but the Osprey staff did such a wonderful job of putting us at ease that we both felt like we floated about on the day with no worries to be had. We both look forward to returning to the hotel for future family occasions to celebrate in this beautiful, well-run hotel.

The Big Day
After a very personable and enjoyable church wedding ceremony, we took to the N7 and the awaiting celebrations at the Osprey Hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the staff, and all the guests looked well pleased with the spread of arrival food and drink. The sun was splitting the stones so the landscape garden leading from the ballroom was an ideal setting for socialising and many photos! The ballroom looked amazing and there were quality little touches provided by the hotel staff like pictures to go with our table names (and the newly purchased bike with flowers!) that just added to the occasion. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating which helped everyone feel relaxed. The food was top notch and the generous pours of wine certainly added to the party feel. A wedding during these times can be a very different event but the Osprey hotel and its staff created a safe, relaxed environment that made the big day so special. There’s really nothing we would change from the day itself and to the staff, we’re so thankful that we look back on the day so fondly.
